I am so happy to introduce you to Treena, my lovely friend and fellow creative! Her incredible sense of design & style draws me to her kind spirit and her seriously gorgeous home. We hit it off easily with our mutual love for mid-century furniture and minimalistic style - we just had to get together for a shoot!
As soon as you meet her, you'll fall in love with her charismatic personality and sweet smiles - she's that friend you can't help but be happy when you're around her!
If you love modern decor and being inspired by creative souls, read on below!
Your Name: Treena Warawa
Current Occupation: Artist
Education/Background: Studied Interior decor, make-up artistry
"Salvage + Bronzd is a mish-mash of old and new. My focus is design, currently my main design elements are Himmeli's. Their clean lines and versatility make for a fun feature in any decor setting. I am always willing to collaborate with other creative driven folks and my business reflects this part of me. My business will be forever growing and evolving but one thing will be true ~ Design." - Treena
One thing you'd be surprised to find in my purse/wallet:
Probably a Lego man from one of my 3 kids.
I can't live without:
Coffee... I just love the smell of it, the process of making it and the taste of that first cup in the morning.
On a Friday night, you'll most likely find me:
Making himmeli's, out for coffee with friends or relaxing with my main squeeze.
What prompted you to get into the creative business?
Since I can remember all I wanted to do when I grew up was something I loved, for the longest time I had so many rules and boundaries put on what that meant that I lost touch with it. I tried things I thought would make me happy and it wasn't until I let go of what I thought it would look like things started falling into place. I can honestly say i am doing what I love, and that is "creating".
Is there something you've always wanted to do?
I have always wanted to travel the world, to so many places I cant even list them all. I'm still holding this one at the top of my list.
What keeps you inspired?
Oh my gosh everything... My kids, my husband, design, art, nature, movies, meditation, just using my hands to make something, other creative people, fashion, my home, this is a good one "Pinterest" LOL, colour, people, the world, love, music, life itself.
How do you stay focused & organized?
Well...that can be a hard thing, I like to think I'm organized but I'm a procrastinator so things will pile up then I tackle them in clumps. I find I have to balance home a bit more now because I would so much rather create and make than say make supper so I have to prioritize things or I'm very much learning to ask for help. I wasn't always good at that one, but I don't like crazy Treena so I make asking a priority now.
What are some of your favourite ways to unwind?
It depends on the day and I don't do it as much as I would hope to but Meditation is a big one that helps me unwind and see life much more simply, journaling is another one. My favorite is my husband and I will grab a glass of wine and just chat for hours, kinda a debriefing of our lives. It helps us reconnect after a busy week and see life for what it is.
What has been the biggest challenge you've faced?:
Well the biggest challenge would be balancing time with work and family. My kids have had me home for the most part for 9 years and it's a bit hard for them to share me with my work, so I feel guilty then to make time for my husband and friends and family has been a little different.
What's the best advice you've ever received? The worst?
I would have to say, well it's not advice but a few quotes put together. "We are all here to learn how to be our authentic selves, no one is perfect but we are perfectly imperfect. Our journey is ours but we are sharing this small world with 7 Billion people and every single one of us is here for a reason. So honour that in yourself and in others."
Working together will get us all further, Collaboration over Competition.
And I have to say I don't believe in bad advice because it was said for a reason, it's our job to see the silver lining. Everything is a learning opportunity if we choose for it to be.
What advice do you have for someone just starting out in your industry?: Always follow your heart, it's the only compass we need. Choose happiness this life our message to the world, let it be extraordinary. ~ Author unknown.
