A Day in the Life: Sister Bischoff (Part 3 of 3)

YEGMormon

Name: Sister Rachel Bischoff
Age: 20
Home: Herriman, Utah
Pre-mission occupation: high school student, babysitter, photographer helper

What I love about Edmonton: I LOVE all of the different cultures here! We have such an amazing opportunity to meet and get to know people from all walks of life. It's humbling to see people flee from very dismal circumstances here to start a new life. It takes a lot of courage and I am always very impressed at the strength of these amazing people. I just love the people here!

Most memorable moment in Edmonton: There are so many memorable moments it's hard to choose! But one of my favourite memories is when we walked into the home of someone we were teaching and all 5 of their kids came running and gave us the biggest hug and said, "We have been waiting for you to come all day. Mom and us read the scriptures everyday!"

When I opened my mission call: When I opened my mission call I knew it was right. I mean of course you hope to open it and have it say somewhere exotic and be speaking a language, but an overwhelming sense of peace came over me. As soon as I saw Canada it just made sense! I did not however have any idea what Edmonton was and I certainly did not realize it was in Alberta! Hahaha. And I also thought I would be in a frozen tundra, but it's not! This is the best mission in the world.

Why I serve: I am serving a mission because I love this gospel. It has changed my life and brought so much happiness, hope, and love. That is what many people nowadays are missing. We have the opportunity to help people realize that they are children of a Heavenly Father who loves them perfectly and unconditionally; who is ALWAYS there for them. That they can repent and be forgiven and need not worry about those burdens any longer. The gospel is liberating. It helps us in every aspect of our lives and I love it so much.

Favourite Gospel Principle: The Atonement of our Saviour Jesus Christ. That is all encompassing.

Favourite scripture verse:
Alma 37:6 or John 14:27 both are favourites.

"Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise." - Alma 37:6

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." - John 14:27

You'd be surprised to find in my purse: After Bite cause the mosquitos here are insane!
